    Padded crossbow

I got a longish expose from this guy on why he built his crossbow the way he did, and how the padding wood-lookalike on the front had actually already prevented serious injuries.

  • Padded crossbow

    Padded crossbow

The crossbow has a steel rod as the main tension carrier, and encapsulates this in a plastic-foam-with-latex-covering frontal piece, mainly in order to minimize accidents and their consequences.

With a fascinating mix of modern, glaring, plastic-based bags and LARP-capable more-or-less historic reconstructions.

He normally pulled shifts in the tavern until 5am, and thus was pretty knocked out in the mornings.

The gaming site was absolutely .. gorgeous. This view is down what would have been the moat should the castle been situated in a way that would keep the water in the vicinity of the walls at all.

  • The Game

    The Game

We had a game around as a pure prop. The idea was that anyone working in the tavern would make a move every now and then, and once asked about the rules, would dismiss it as way too difficult. This made for quite a lot of amusing roleplay with players and NPCs who would insist on getting an explanation. For me, it was even more amusing, since I had my character speaking only Swedish. So I would regularly have a rapt audience of people listening to me talking in rapid Swedish, doing various moves and trying to explain what constitutes a legal move and what not.
